New members of the family…

Book family that is. ;-)

I arrived back yesterday and so far jet lag seems to be going ok. I’m don’t feel that spaced out. My head is on creative overload at the moment, which is mainly due to visiting wonderland.*

But if there is a bookstore** near me I am guaranteed to sniff it out, even if we need a cab** to get there. Well we needed a cab for one very large Borders which I happily got lost in. As my companion is a not a bookaddict like me I controlled myself, sorta… after 3 shops (including airport) I came home with the below:

  • ice – sarah beth durst
  • dark reflections – kai meyer
  • crown of crystal flame – c l wilson
  • hearts blood – juliet marillier
  • intertwined – gena showalter
  • incarceron – catherine fisher
  • firelight – sophie jordan
  • halo – alexandra adornetto
  • the kidnapping of christina hattimore – joan lowery nixon
  • perfect chemistry – simone elkeles
  • maximum ride (saving the world and other extreme sports) – james patterson
  • paranormalcy – kiersten white
  • zoombies vs. unicorns – various
  • radiance – alyson noel
  • twenty boy summer – sarah ockler
  • luna – julie anne peters
  • the anatomy of wings – karen foxlee

These are not in any order and I have no idea which one to start with? Suggestions? (The only one I can’t start is Maximum Ride as I need to read the previous one first) Good job I build more bookcases eh? ;-)

17… hmm, I prefer even numbers. Since I’m not back at work until Wednesday I’m still on holiday, can I buy an 18th? *shines halo*

*I will explain this at a later date.

**go Americanized me :D

Rollercoasters

I don’t like rollercoasters. AT ALL.

When I was about 8 my uncle took me to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and convinced me to go on a small rollercoaster. He told me it would be a relaxing ride and I very naively believed him. (By that stage I should have really known better…

Truthfully, it was the smallest rollercoaster. I think it was also the oldest. Made out of wood and it creaked a lot. It still runs to this day.

My aunt has told me that when I came back I was green. I remember being terrified. I haven’t set foot on another rollercoaster since and nothing will ever tempt me to do so again.*

Despite this, I had a blast years later in Orlando and went of all sorts of high adrenaline rides at Universal & Disney – just no rollercoasters.

The point of this is that my emotional rollercoaster has started an uphill climb because, apparently, I am now going to Las Vegas. Let’s hope there aren’t any big dips up ahead ;-)

See you in 2 ½ weeks when normal blogging will resume.

*ok some things might but they will not happen…

sh#t happens…

aka Bye Bye Vegas.

Sometimes all the best laid plans go out the window, sometimes stuff just happens and you have to redo everything. When this happens to me in writing, I take a step back, do something else, annoy my fellow writers with questions and then see if this new development can actually work in the story.

Unfortunately it’s not my writing that has a spanner in the works it’s my life. After 5 days of drama, stress and very little sleep, I’ve settled into a routine of going to work, going to hospital, remembering to eat and trying to sleep before repeating that process. My mobile (cellphone?) is glued to my side and I check it every 10 minutes all the while praying it doesn’t ring again.

In light of this, doing a blog about Magic Moon is a bit too ironically surreal given it was that book series was my companion through my parent’s death.

For now I’m putting my blog-plan on the back burner and will come back to it as and when.

As most of you know I’ve been getting very excited about my Las Vegas trip which I should be leaving on in 12 days. That’s looking rather unlikely now. In the scheme of things it’s not important, the city won’t disappear and the shows will be there when we do decide to go. That is with the exception of SYTYCD, I won’t lie it missing out on that hurts, but hey sh#t happens…

I’m going to Vegas!

I have made various attempts at screaming this and jumping around celebrating. I confess I’ve been unsuccessful in both. I can’t scream – occasionally I squeak but that’s as close as I get. Also, the carefully arranged pathways around my furniture, do not give sufficient room for bouncing. I could go outside but my neighbours think I’m peculiar enough as it is…

Anyway, back to Vegas and dance*
Yep dance, I’m going to Vegas for the shows, not to gamble. Though if a slot machine wants to give me the big cash prize I’ll happily except and invest it wisely in book cases and maybe fixing my shelf.

In the quirky unexpected ways things happen, one of the things I’m most excited about is going to see the So You think You Can Dance Tour,** which we will be trying to book tickets for this Friday. Fingers crossed for that!

Ever since we decided on this I’ve gone Kent Kent Kent whenever something at work has gone wrong. I tried So You think You Can Dance So You think You Can Dance So You think You Can Dance, but it doesn’t trip of the tongue that easily so I’m sticking to Kent Kent Kent.*** :D

These thoughts along with planning various Cirque De Soleil visits is keeping me very happy. It’s only 104 days or 2496 hours (approx) to go, not that I’m counting… not at all. :-P

Anyway, BIG NEWS – my first spoiler teaser is coming out next week so be sure to stop by.

*did I mention how much I love dance? ;-)

** I want to say it’s in Vegas when we were going but it’s not quite true, we did rearrange the trip so we could make the show.
No I’m not kidding, my friend (not writing buddy) and I flew all the way to Philadelphia for 4 days to see the Dancing with the Stars Tour. I still have the program, signed by the cast (that’s another long story) :-)

*** it conjures up the same happy thoughts. I am considering alternating on a weekly basis with the other dancers…
