3s

So the last couple of weeks haven’t been that great writing wise but this weekend I got on top of it. :)

I finally found a solution to a plot hole that’s been bugging me and came up with a really good idea for the progression of the story*. While my initial ROW80 targets aren’t quite working out I’m carrying on with a few amendments.

I’ve also been reading like crazy, come back on Sunday because I plan to share the book ♥

Ages ago** I promised a little teaser so below is a small scene from my current WIP.

“What is your true name?”
Thomas was looking at me from the makeshift bed I’d set up in the living room. After over a week upstairs he was going mad and driving me to distraction, so I finally relented. Even with the bandages on his face he didn’t stop pestering me with questions. Many of which I didn’t have any answer for.
“Sapphire will do.” I said and returned to the notebook I was practising letters in.
“That can’t be your name.”
I counted to ten and put the pen down before turning back. Part of me was regretting having brought him here. He didn’t belong to the Institute, he was from outside and that was terrifying and exciting at the same time.
“You ask a lot of things.”
He started to pull a face but winced. Checking the bandages he said:
“I work in media, of course I do.”
“Is that why you’re here?”
He studied me. I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks, for the first time in years I was self-conscious about my appearance. The colourless of me. It didn’t matter how bright my clothes were, the only colour I had was my eyes. Sapphire blue eyes.
“Yes.” he answered.

P.S.
Crusade challenge answers will be revealed Sunday, thanks for all the comments. :)

*proceeded to freak my BWB out in the process, you can see why here

So at the end of week one for Row80 I’m on target. :-D Actually I’m ahead which I’m really pleased with, especially because yesterday just went wrong.

I got talked into working on system testing (boring!) because the person who was supposed to do it couldn’t make it anymore. I found out an hour before I left on Friday that I would have to be back in 8ish on Saturday.
That hour shouldn’t exist on a Saturday morning – it just shouldn’t. :-(

My original targets were as follows:

  • finish my outline & character profiles by the first week of January done
  • write at least 30mins for 6 days out of the week on target
  • have, by the end of the 1st round, the first part of the story ready to edit/crit on target
church

It's rather crude, I did it on an online program. Drawing it by hand would have taken to long.

When I got home yesterday I wasn’t feeling so good so I designed the outside of one of the central buildings in my story. It’s just part of the wall but it will help with writing the descriptions.

I also wrote a brief history (which I forgot to do last week) and did some basic editing before going to bed a ridiculously early hour.

Today is supposed to be my day off but as I’ll be loosing 3 days next week I might ignore that. ;-)

To cheer myself up yesterday I started catching up on Sanctuary*
I was still in season 2, but have now reached episode 6 in season 3. I love the new opening song:

*my 2nd guilty pleasure, 1st place is still Supernatural.

In 3s

There is this saying that be it good or bad, things tend to come in 3. That might be because people automatically try and group things in 3s, I know I do. This time, happily my 3s were all good. :D

  1. I returned to work today* to find out I had won £100 in the company lottery pot. Hurray! It’s paying for my friend and my SYTYCD ticket in Vegas. I’ve been grinning at my desk for most of today.
  2. I found an extra 10Euros in my holiday wallet which has gone straight into my book fund. Now that I now don’t have to save the money for my SYTYCD ticket I can add those funds as well. I am going to go absolutely book buying mad… 20? Hah, I think 30 should be my new minimum target.
  3. I’m getting addicted to Twitter of late** and had #fangirl moment when Robin McKinley re-tweeted my comment about Sunshine. Which was that it’s something guaranteed to make me feel better, along with chocolate and Supernatural.

Finally, one of the many reasons I love dance

*I was off sick, which is not good but I’m better now.

**I resisted so long…
